Hardware wise these presets are compatible with all Roland JV models (JV-1010, JV-1080, JV-2080, XP-30, XP-50, XP-60, XP-80, XV-88, XV-2020, XV-3080, XV-5050, XV-5080) and it doesn't require any expansions!
All presets are made with the Insert EFX set to OFF, you can of course use this to tweak them to your liking. However.. The basic chorus and reverb should be ON at ALL time for maximum sound potential. Consider using a proper enhancer (spl vitalizer) or stereo image algorithm on the JV1080, a bit of contemporary reverb can also do wonders.
Jv1080 vst soundcould is a single channel instrument.. although very well done. One has to open at least 6 (six) instances of this vst instrument. Or freeze and keep adding channels to achieve this track!
Y'know what! As an owner of a 1080 and 2080 this is the first time i've heard it brought into the noughties :) Brilliant work. I got right into the guts of the thing to make more ethereal fm-distorted sounds but was never convinced of it's dance-worthiness until now LOL!

Good programming ! JV1080 and 2080 (which I own) are underestimated synths. JV2080 is a good alternative to the JD990 (which I also own 3x!) But It must be said. Editing a 1080 is not difficult, but asks for patience because of limited display. There is a good freeware editor though.sK3LeTvM
I tried trial version of JV-1080 vst plugin , but I cannot found any way to change it into GM mode.(JV-1080 vst plugin doesn't have any SHIFT or PERFORMANCE or PATCH button unlike real hardware of JV-1080)I also tried trial version of XV-5080 vst plugin,But It can neither change it into GM mode.Is there anyone who have tried JV-1080 or XV-5080 vst plugin from Roland cloud and succeed to play normally any General MIDI file?
My understanding is that, according to page 76 of the manual, sending a "GM System On" SYSEX message to a JV-1080 should toggle it into General MIDI mode .The SYSEX message to send is F0 7E 7F 09 01 F7 .
You will need to send the SYSEX message file gmreset.syx using an application such as MIDI-OX or, simply play the GMRESET.MID MIDI file through the JV-1080 using a MIDI file player (SYSEX message is embedded).
I extracted "GMRESET.MID" from gmreset.zip which you have attached in this thread,and played it,but It seems that it fails to toggle "JV-1080 vst plugin" into GM mode.I used the form below to send a message which ask about method how to toggle "JV-1080 vst plugin" into GM mode in order to normally play any midi files of General MIDI specification. -account/contact-us/If I receive any response from Roland Cloud I'll post it on this thread.
